Are your products natural and organic?

At Rena Roots™ we are committed to delivering you safe and effective skincare by formulating our products with the right ingredients at the right concentrations for optimal skin nutrition. While our serums are formulated using over 90% natural, plant-derived ingredients, we do combine them with science-baked synthetic ingredients when appropriate. For example, we use synthetically formulated Hyaluronic Acid which is not derived from animals and thus meets our vegan criteria. Whether plant-based or synthetic, we only use ingredients that are safe and free of harmful substances.

Whenever possible we use organic ingredients. Our current organic ingredients include our Afghan Rose Oil, Albanian Immortelle and Sea Kelp.

Are Rena Roots™ products clean?

While we pride ourselves on only using safe and results-driven ingredients, we don’t love using the term ‘clean beauty’ as there is no regulated definition for the word ‘clean’ (or natural for that matter) when it comes to cosmetics. As you can imagine this can lead to a lot of confusion and misrepresentation. While there is no regulated definition, for us it means avoiding ingredients that are deemed to have any known and suspected hazards. Our list of banned ingredients goes well beyond the industry standard of Paraben-Free, Sulfate-Free, Phthalate-Free and Silicone-Free.

Are your products vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes, all Rena Roots™ products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free.

Where is Rena Roots™ based?

Rena Roots™ is registered in both Arizona, USA and Zurich, Switzerland.

Where are your products made?

All Rena Roots™ products are expertly formulated and made by our biochemists in the USA using our impact-sourced ingredients from Afghanistan and Albania alongside other science-backed ingredients.

Do any of your products contain nuts, soy or gluten?

All Rena Roots™ products are nut, soy and gluten free.

Are your products safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

Our products are made with non-toxic, safe & effective ingredients; however, we always recommend following your doctor’s guidance. We can share that our founder, Irena Loloci used the entire Drop-by-Drop™ serum collection throughout both of her pregnancies.

Are your products safe to use for sensitive skin?

Yes, in fact our Immortelle Serum is specifically designed to calm even the most sensitive of skins. Unfortunately, allergies and sensitivities can be unpredictable which is why, if you are highly sensitive, we recommend doing a patch test first.

Are you products fragrance free?

We don't use artificial fragrance in any of our products, our products are naturally scented from our plant based botanical oils: Afghan Rose Oil and Albanian Immortelle.

SUSTAINABILITY

What is your philosophy on sustainability?

Rena Roots™ is dedicated to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition (SDG #2) and strengthen global partnerships for sustainable development (SDG #17).

We recognize that ending hunger must go hand-in-hand with strategies that encourage sustainable agriculture and put in place practices that tackle climate change and work to preserve our oceans and forests.

At Rena Roots™, a more sustainable future is at the core of all of our decisions which we are constantly evaluating to ensure we have the most sustainable practices in place.

Is your packaging recyclable and environmentally friendly?

Yes. We consciously chose glass packaging for our Drop-by-Drop™ Serums which is easily recyclable and is made from 100% recycled glass. Additionally, our serums are packaged using paper cartons certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC), an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. This means our paper comes from forests that meet the highest environmental and social standards. Additionally, we do not use leaflet inserts in our packaging, an unnecessary addition of paper in our point of view. Instead, we print all relevant product information directly on our outer carton, while this does increase the size of our outer carton slightly, overall it accounts for less waste.

How can I recycle my used bottles?

Simply rinse used bottles and recycle them the same way you would any glass packaging.

How do you chose which countries you source your impact sourced ingredients from?

Currently, over 65% of the hungry on this planet come from just 10 nations, which are driven almost entirely by conflict. If there’s anything we’ve learned through our deep roots working with the United Nations, it’s that people want jobs, not charity. They want the opportunity to provide for themselves.

Our geo-targeted sourcing model means we work directly with farms in conflict-affected and developing countries, employing their skills to create some of the purest and most potent natural oils while simultaneously creating jobs and supporting sustainable agriculture practices.

Our long term strategy is committed to working with the rich biodiversity in these areas, focusing on the nations that make up the top ten worst food crises, as a means to provide economic opportunities to help end the hunger crisis and contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal to ZERO HUNGER. 

Which of your current ingredients are impact sourced?

Our current impact sourced ingredients include our Afghan Rose Oil and our Albanian Immortelle Oil. This is just the beginning for us, we plan on sourcing many more ingredients focusing on the 10 nations that currently make up 65% of the worlds hungry. AFGHAN ROSE OIL

Our organic-certified Damask Rose Oil is the inspiration behind the birth of Rena Roots™. We source it directly from Afghanistan (where our founder was working with the UN WFP) under controlled, ecological and fair trade conditions. By supporting this market, we believe that the roses have the power to change the face of Afghanistan. Imagine if fields across Afghanistan would be planted with roses rather than opium. The Afghan people deserve the long-awaited peace and this is our ‘drop’ towards.

ALBANIAN IMMORTELLE OIL

Our Immortelle Oil is sourced from our founder’s native Albania and is sustainably harvested by women in a region with scare opportunities under controlled, ecological and fair trade conditions. The farm is organic certified (EU) and we pay the farmers what they ask (a fair price) and ensure they have a market for this miracle plant, which has been used for centuries for its healing and restoring properties.

How does it work?

Our subscription service is a convenient and easy way for you to receive your favorite products delivered to you when you want them. We automatically send your favorite products based upon your chosen frequency at a discounted rate. Simply select the auto-replenishment option at check-out and select how often you want your products delivered. You will receive 15% off single product auto-replenishment orders and 5% off already value-priced product bundle auto-replenishment orders!

What if I want to cancel my auto-replenishment service?

You can change your delivery frequency or quantity anytime by visiting ‘My Subscription’ in your account. Changes to orders can be made any time before the next scheduled shipment date (we send a reminder email 1 week before each order is shipped).
